Theories of Law and Justice
This course introduces students to theoretical questions about the nature of law. It explores the various ways that law fits into our lives and how it shapes our understanding of our place in society - and the kind of society in which we might want to be placed. The unit assists students to apply their theoretical knowledge in the context of some contemporary legal issues and controversies. Students will see how the philosophy of law is also useful in discussing and exploring questions which trouble us in our everyday lives.
